Route highlights

Grožnjan
Grožnjan is a medieval village, whose original beauty is still preserved in its old walls. It is known above all as the "town of artists".
Motovun
A walk along the city walls and through thick gates allows you to get around the city. Motovun is also famous for truffles and olive oil.
Porec
It has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. Absolutely recommended to visit this episcopal complex and example of early Byzantine architecture!
Rovinj
From afar, you will be greeted by the towering bell tower of the Church of Euphemia, which stands on the highest square in Rovinji.
Brijuni
A small group of islands in the Croatian Adriatic. Today the islands are a national park and only Veli Brijun is open to the public.
Pula
The astonishingly well-preserved amphitheatre now provides a colossal setting for concerts as well as theatre and opera performances.
Vrsar Rovinj
A boat trip to the fjord-like canal with its shimmering blue water will certainly remain in your memory - especially because, with a bit of luck, you might see some dolphins.
Nova Vas
The interior of the cave is richly decorated with calcite deposits, stalactites, stalagmites and cone columns.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Individual arrival at your hotel in Porec. We suggest a visit to the Euphrasian Basilica – listed as UNESCO World Heritage since 1997.

Day 2: Round trip Porec

(approx. 35 km)

Today’s cycling day makes you explore the hinterland of Porec. First along the coast to the bathing resort Santa Marina di Vabriga and then to Vabriga. You leave the coast again and continue cycling in the inland to Visnjan and back to Porec.

Day 3: Porec – Vrsar – Limski Channel - Porec

(approx. 40 km)

Today you will cycle from Porec to the famous fjord-like Limski channel with its blue shimmering water. The Limski channel is a protected natural area and on its coasts you will find mussels- and oyster breeding. Through the inland you will get back to Porec.

Day 4: Groznjan – Buje – Novigrad – Porec

(approx. 55 km)

You will reach the artistic village Groznjan today! Named the first time in 1102 it is today a meeting point for musicians from all over the world. During summer a lot of classical concerts with young musicians take place. In the second half of July you can join the festival “Jazz is back”. In the end of September artists meet for “Ex Tempore” - performing arts. From Groznjan you cycle passing Buje downhill to the Adriatic coast and along to Novigrad (in Italian Cittanova). This medieval town is surrounded by a defensive wall and is seated at the mouth of the river Mirna. On your way back you will pass the cave “Jama Baredine” – a dripstone cave, before reaching Porec again.

Day 5: Motovun – Porec

(approx. 45 km)

After a short transfer in the hinterland of Porec the first stop is Motovun, a formerly important strategic point of the Venetians, invulnerable on the top of a steep hill. You may surround this medieval town and enjoy the breath taking view on the surrounded hilly landscape, the sea and the Mirna valley. Along the Parenzana you continue your ride to Vizinada from where you will see once again the impressing town of Motovun before going back to Porec.

Day 6: Porec – Rovinj

(approx. 55 km)

Today you will reach Rovinj, one of the most beautiful cities in Istria. Rovinj is surrounded in the west and the south west by the Adriatic Sea. Afar the high bell tower of the Euphemia Church built on the highest spot of Rovinj, greats you. Go ahead, if you would like to cycle to Zlatni rt (also known as Golden Cape), a peninsula, where you find a park in a nature reserve.

Return transfer to Porec in the afternoon.

Day 7: Kanfanar – Pula

(approx. 40 km)

After a transfer to Kanfanar you cycle through wide woods in direction Pula. In Fazana you have the possibility to visit with one of the boats the Brijuni-islands. The Brijuni-islands are twelve smaller and 2 bigger islands; the main island Veli Brijun was used by the Yugoslav statesman Tito as summer residence. Today the islands are National Park and only Veli Brijun can be visited by the public. Continue your cycling trip to Pula, the biggest city of Istria. Famous for the antique places of interest like the amphitheatre! In the evening transfer back to Porec.

Day 8: Departure
