Hiking Prosecco
Hiking in the hills of Prosecco
The Prosecco hills are located in the province of Treviso between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene in the Veneto region, in the northeast of Italy. The whole area is rich in vineyards that produce a wine of international prestige: Prosecco, a sparkling white wine that is exported all over the world and of which more than 90 million bottles are produced annually.
In 2019, this area was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In the land of Prosecco, beauty and taste blend harmoniously and invite the visitor to a journey to discover wineries, small towns surrounded by terraces and vineyards, abbeys and fortresses.
The “Strada del Prosecco” meanders through steep slopes covered by vineyards and forests, in a beautiful landscape.

The hike starts in Susegana and takes you past the magnificent complex of San Salvatore Castle. After the village of Collalto, cross a panoramic line overlooking the Piave. Due to its favourable geographical location, Pieve di Soligo is also known as the pearl of the "Piave quarter".
Day 3: Pieve di Soligo - Col San Martino
Ascent about 610 Hm, Descent about 630 Hm / about 6 hours.
This area is characterized by built-up steep slopes, facing South. With heights of almost 500 meters and due to the roughness of the reliefs this area is also called "small mountains". This is the ideal place for the ripening of Glera and Costa d'Oro grapes. You will also see the characteristic stone houses, churches and shrines of the many rural villages, including the small church of San Gallo.
Tag 4: Col San Martino – Valdobbiadene
(Ascent about 660 Hm, Descent about 580 Hm / about 6 hours).
The stage starts in Col San Martino at the temple of S. Martino. It crosses the characteristic hamlets and leads you alongside roads, which are completely surrounded by vineyards, small villages such as Guia, Santo Stefano and San Pietro di Barbozza, and typical taverns and wine cellars are surrounded. A stop at the Osteria Senz'Oste is a must- a famous place with unique charm. From the top, you have a 180-degree panorama over the characteristic hills where the vineyards grow on steep slopes.
Day 5: Guia - Follina
(Ascent about 340 Hm, Descent about 350 Hm /about 4 hours).
In the morning, take the public bus to Guia. Today’s hike takes you first into the vineyards and then on to a higher altitude in the forest. You ascend along the cycle route of the Treviso Prealps, a relatively short stage completely surrounded by nature. The route leads to Follina, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Attractions include the ancient Abbey of Santa Maria, the springs of Santa Scolastica and Castel Brando in Cison di Valmarino.
Day 6: Follina - Tarzo
(ascent about 990 m, descent about 900 m / about 6 hours)
Today’s route alternates between nature and culture. From Follina to Tarzo you walk on the ridge, which is embedded in the green forests between beech and chestnut trees. Tarzo overlooks Lake Revine in Valmareno, between the hills of Treviso and the Venetian Pre-Alps. The area is filled with dramatic castles, historic houses and Venetian villas. You can admire art and history along Via dei Mulares' and a small piece of Japan can be seen in the Bonsai Garden Museum in the historic centre.
Today’s hike takes you along the "core zone", on which the first candidacy and entry into the UNESCO list were based. The route in the middle of the woods takes you to the Bivacco Marsini, a small, but very impressive house. This offers a magnificent view of the Prosecco hills, Monte Cesen with the San Boldo pass and the plain. The highlight of the day is the fairytale Molinetto della Croda, an old water mill from the 17th century. From Refrontolo take the public bus to Conegliano.
Day 8: Conegliano
