This hike offers a lot of variety. From Cortina, the city in the Dolomites, you hike south to Venice, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Forest paths, panoramic views, vineyards, plateaus, interesting towns and much more await you. Embark on a pleasure hike in northern Italy.

Experience culture and customs in the province of Belluno, wander through the vineyards, where the well-known Valdobbiadene Prosecco is grown and enjoy the Italian flair at an „Aperitivo“ in Belluno and Venice. The route is recommended as a continuation of the hiking trip Kitzbühel – Three Peaks.
The hike runs along marked mountain and hiking trails. The tour is suitable for anyone with a good basic condition. Larger climbs are overcome by cable car and it is possible to shorten the stages by using public transport and/or taxi.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cortina d'Ampezzo

Individual arrival at the hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Day 2: Cortina d'Ampezzo - San Vito di Cadore

(ascent approx. 200 m, descent approx. 370 m / approx. 4 hours)

Slightly above the bottom of the valley you walk on a forest path with a view of the Sorapis massif and on the right the rock formation of the „Five Towers“ - Cinque Torri. Through the Boite Valley you reach San Vito di Cadore.

Day 3: San Vito di Cadore - Pieve di Cadore

(ascent approx. 550 m or approx. 1100 m, descent approx. 950 m or approx. 1300 m/approx. 4 - 5 hours or approx. 7-8 hours)

You can shorten the first part of the hike by taking the chair lift to the Rifugio Scotter Palatini (ticket not included). Following the Via Alpini hiking trail you reach the Passo dei Camosci and then the Galassi mountain hut. Once there, you have already reached the highest point of the hike. Along the way you can enjoy the view of the well-known mountains such as Monte Pelmo, Civetta and Antelao. Through the valley d‘Oten you walk along the river Molinà. There is the possibility, after about 16 km to take a taxi directly to Pieve de Cadore from the Bar Alla Pineta (taxi not included). Otherwise, you can hike to Calalzo di Cadore and take the bus from there to Pieve di Cadore (not included).

Day 4: Pieve di Cadore - Belluno

(ascent approx. 550 m, descent approx. 750 m / approx. 4-5 hours + bus)

Above Calalzo di Cadore you walk towards Tai di Cadore and continue to Valle di Cadore. Here we recommend a short detour to the church of St. Martin in Valle di Cadore. Continue along the hiking trail „Cammino delle Dolomiti“ and hike to Calalzo di Cadore. From here you take the the public bus to today‘s stage destination Belluno „The small Venice in the mountains“.

Day 5: Belluno - Revine

(ascent approx. 510 m, descent approx. 1.620 m / approx. 6 hours)

After a short transfer you arrive at the well-known plateau Nevegal. From there you can see the Santa Croce and Lake Morto. Before reaching the plains in the coming days, today you walk along the ridge and enjoy a wonderful 360° panorama. In one of the romantic mountain huts you can get a delicious refreshment before descending to Revine.

Day 6: Revine - Conegliano - Treviso

(ascent approx. 360 m, descent approx. 540 m /approx. 6-7 hours)

Transfer in the morning. The hike southwards continues and takes you on the „Dream path Munich - Venice“ hiking trail. After some small hills, you will reach Molinetto della Croda with an old, very beautiful watermill. You wander through beautiful vineyards which invite you to try at least one glass of Prosecco in the evening. After a short train ride from Conegliano you reach Treviso, the fashion city in north-eastern Italy. If you want, you can also take the bus to Conegliano from Refrontolo.

Day 7: Treviso - Venice mainland/Mestre

(ascent approx. 0 m, descent approx. 0 m /approx. 6 hours)

Today's stage runs along the river Sile and its nature reserve. Here you will find small lakes, peat bogs and watercourses. The area is known for the numerous bird species that nest there. You continue to Quarto d‘Altino and then take the train or ride with your bike to Mestre.

Day 8: Venice mainland/Mestre

Individual departure from Venice mainland/Mestre or possibility to extend your stay.

By car: on the Brenner/Brennero motorway (A22) to Brixen/Bressanone – take the exit „Brixen/Pustertal“, then through the valley Pustertal/Valle Pusteria (SS49) to Toblach/Dobbiaco, then continue southwards to Cortina or drive along the Felbertauernstraße to Lienz in Eastern Tyrol (Austria) and then further into Italy through the valley Pustertal/Valle Pusteria to Toblach/Dobbiaco, then continue southwards to Cortina.
By train: take the train from Innsbruck over the Brenner/Brennero to Franzensfeste/Fortezza. Change the train to the Pustertal/Valle Pusteria - Lienz and get off at Toblach/Dobbiaco, from here please take the bus to Cortina d’Ampezzo. By plane: Neareste airports are Innsbruck, Verona, Treviso, Venice Marco Polo or Trieste.

In Cortina there are several paid but also free car parks near the hotel.

Light, comfortable clothing is advisable. In addition to the usual equipment (clothes, washing things) we recommend hiking or trekking trousers, gloves, hiking or trekking shoes (hard sole and high shaft protect feet), hiking sticks, rain jacket/protection/sunshield (cap, glasses), small rucksack for the day's provisions, water bottle, personal medication, small first-aid kit (plaster, elastic bandage, disinfection, ointment against strains).

Special experience is not necessary. Your state of health should be average and allow you to walk for 6 - 7 hours.
