The Way of SainT Anthony Cycle Path

Today you will set off along the Pedemontana FVG3 Cycle Route, cycling through the beautiful landscapes at the foot of the mountains. After crossing the Tagliamento River, you will reach Pinzano and continue through picturesque villages and small hamlets, where charming little churches can be found surrounded by greenery. The route continues towards Borgo Ampiano and the Cosa stream, offering increasingly spectacular views of the surrounding mountains along the way. Cycling through a landscape of nature and small settlements, you will eventually reach Meduno, a delightful mountain village nestled at the foot of the mountains, where you can experience the authentic atmosphere and peacefulness of this corner of Friuli.

Today you will continue along the FVG3 Cycle Route, passing through some of the most fascinating villages of western Friuli. The ride will take you to Maniago, Montereale Valcellina and Aviano, where you can discover charming historic centres, ancient churches and important monuments. Leaving the main towns behind, you will continue through small hamlets and traces of the region’s fortified past, before reaching Polcenigo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Here you can admire the Church of San Giacomo and discover the enchanting springs of the Livenza River, surrounded by a landscape of remarkable beauty. The route then continues through San Giovanni and Nave di Fontanafredda, where you will see the charming church dedicated to Saint Anthony the Abbot. Finally, you will reach Sacile, an elegant town set along the banks of the Livenza River and known as the “Garden of the Serenissima”, thanks to its historic palaces, waterways and refined atmosphere.

Today you will cross the border between Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto, continuing by bike towards Mescolino Minelle, home to the museum dedicated to Ottavio Bottecchia, one of the great figures in the history of Italian cycling. You will then ride towards Vittorio Veneto and Conegliano, following the Munich–Venice Cycle Route through gentle hills and historic towns. The route will take you to Susegana, an ancient village dominated by the imposing Castle of San Salvatore, which offers beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. You will then continue towards Nervesa della Battaglia, where you will cross the famous bridge over the Piave River before reaching today’s destination, Montebelluna. Here the landscape changes once again, with rolling hills and vineyards characterising this area, renowned throughout the world for the production of Prosecco.

Today your journey will take you to Asolo, the enchanting “City of a Hundred Horizons”, one of the most fascinating villages in the Veneto region. From here you will continue along the BI12 Cycle Route, following the Muson stream and cycling along the “Sui Sentieri degli Ezzelini” route, through a landscape of countryside, small towns and historic landmarks. You will then pass through Castelfranco Veneto, Camposampiero, Campodarsego, Terraglione and Castagnara, before crossing the Brenta River and reaching Padua. The final stretch of the ride will lead you into the heart of the city and to Piazza del Santo, where the magnificent Basilica of Saint Anthony awaits you. Here your cycling journey comes to an end, with the opportunity to collect the pilgrim’s “Cartula”, a certificate commemorating the route you have completed and a special reminder of this journey by bike.
