This tour takes you along part of the salt route. Starting from Chioggia, you will admire the town and its lagoon. Continuing on, you will cross the lagoon of the Po Delta and arrive in Goro where you can visit the small port and have lunch in a typical restaurant with a fish menu. You will then proceed to Comacchio, well-known as little Venice. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the lagoon and the Saline, salt-works (reservation required). This is the home for thousands of pink flamingos and other wildlife. Skirting the lagoon and then the pinewood, you will arrive in Ravenna, the heart of Byzantine art in Europe. This is the end of your tour.

Easy, flat route that runs mostly along cycle paths and roads with little traffic, almost entirely on asphalt. A few gentle climbs at the riverbanks.

Day 1: Chioggia

Individual arrival in Chioggia. So close to Venice but so unique, the town will welcome you with its Venetian-style palaces overlooking the canals, the characteristic Chioggia boats called 'Bragozzi' with their multicoloured sails, the fishmongers and Piazza Vigo, which with its beautiful bridge seems to take us back through the centuries, to the time of the doges and the Serenissima.

Day 2: Chioggia - Ca‘ Tiepolo

(approx.49 km)

The start of the route through the Po Delta could not be better; the Delta's history is deeply linked to Venice, which designed its contours with a gigantic work of hydraulic engineering, the Taglio di Porto Viro. Chioggia has a wonderful bicycle path that runs along the Lusenzo lagoon: this will be the first section of the itinerary that will take you first to Sottomarina and then to Brondolo. The crossing over the Brenta River on the SS Romea bridge is worthy of special attention; once you reach the Adige you will cross it on the Romea and take the Destra Adige in the direction of the mouth, continuing along the cycle path until you meet the Via delle Valli. Here begin twelve kilometres of extraordinary beauty: the route runs through lagoons and fishing valleys that will take you to meet the Po di Levante. You will continue cycling on the Via delle Valli, which replicates the landscape of the first part of the stage until you reach Scanarello. From here, you will reach the bridge that crosses the Po di Venezia and leads to Ca' Tiepolo.

Day 3: Ca‘ Tiepolo - Volano/Pomposa

(approx. 47 km)

After breakfast you will set off by bicycle along the cycle path that first leads to Ca' Mello and then to the Sacca degli Scardovari with the splendid scenic road that runs alongside it and which sees on one side the largest lagoon in the Delta with its mussel, clam and oyster farms, and on the other the countryside expertly cultivated with wheat, barley and rice. Continuing south you will encounter Santa Giulia, Gorino Sullam and Gorino Veneto in quick succession. Once in Emilia you will continue along the embankment of the Po di Goro as far as the town of the same name, pedalling around the characteristic harbour and taking the road that runs alongside the Sacca di Goro we will cross the Gran Bosco della Mesola, arriving at Volano/Pomposa.

Day 4: Volano/Pomposa - Comacchio

(approx. 47 km)

From Pomposa Abbey you will cycle in the direction of Volano along low-traffic roads through the reclaimed areas of the Valle Giralda, admiring the Oasi di Canneviè along the way before arriving at Lido di Volano, the northernmost of the Lidi di Comacchio. You will take the cycle path through the Pineta di Volano Nature Reserve to Lido delle Nazioni. From here, through the lidos of Pomposa and Scacchi, you will be in Porto Garibaldi, one of the most important ports of the northern Adriatic with its fleet of fishing boats used for catching blue fish. Thanks to the ferry-boat for bicycles and pedestrians from the port-channel you will reach Lido degli Estensi and head towards the Comacchio Valleys along a stretch of road and then the cycle path. Along the way, surrounded by the water of Valle Fattibello and the Saline, the spectacle offered by the flight of numerous flamingos and other birds before arriving in Comacchio will be another unforgettable moment.

Day 5: Comacchio - Marina Romea

(approx.46 km)

Leaving the historic centre of the lagoon city, you will continue on to Foce, the nerve centre of the entire valley ecosystem, which can be observed from above by climbing the tower. From here, cycling along the valley embankment you will first reach Casone Donnabona and then Argine Agosta, along which you will continue to Sant'Alberto. Along the embankment or by taking the ferry, you will finally continue towards Casal Borsetti and Marina Romea.

Day 6: Marina Romea - Ravenna

(approx. 31 km)

The last cycling stage begins in the direction of Ravenna. From Marina Romea you will continue as far as Porto Corsini from where, thanks to a small ferry-boat (for a fee) you will arrive in Marina di Ravenna. You will then cycle to the oasis of Ortazzo and the Classe pine forest to reach the ancient port of Classe before finally arriving in the city centre

Day 7: Ravenna, individual departure

Breakfast and individual return. Departure possible from either Chioggia or Ravenna (the latter is suggested for those arriving by train)
