A loop trek that traverses unique and still little-visited landscapes from the Carnic Alps to the Friulian Dolomites and the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, all the way to the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park.
The route takes place along well-marked and interconnected trails. No climbing experience is necessary.

Today’s stage begins with a transfer to Forni Avoltri. From here, you will start your hike, ascending to Malga Tuglia, from where you can enjoy panoramic views over the Sappada valley and the Peralba and Popera mountains in Comelico. You will then continue along the trail to Cima Sappada. Following the cycle path, you will eventually reach Sappada, the destination of today’s stage.
From Cima Sappada, the trek reaches the source of the Piave River, crossing forests and alpine trails. The route continues through the stunning Val Visdende, a broad Dolomite valley framed by imposing peaks, with meadows, forests and spectacular views. You will hike through an unspoiled landscape of extraordinary beauty.
After a short stretch on an asphalt road, take the trail that climbs towards the Marmotte alpine pasture. Following the Crode dei Longerin, you reach Passo Palombino. From here, a panoramic trail offers stunning views of the Dolomites and leads downhill towards Sega Digon, with views of the Marmarole, Antelao and Popera mountains. At the end of the stage, take the local bus to Padola.
Today’s stage takes you through quiet forests, dotted with springs and old mountain huts, to Passo Sant’Antonio, a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Marmarole and the Comelico valley. The descent continues past wayside shrines and along trails immersed in nature, leading you to Colle del Calvario and finally to Auronzo, today’s destination.
Three Peaks Variant
(ascent approx. 1170 m, descent approx. 200 m / approx. 14,5 km / approx. 5-6 hours)
Today’s stage begins with a bus ride to Sexten (ticket not included). From here, you enter the scenic Fischleintal Valley and reach Lake Dürrensee, framed by the impressive peaks of the Dolomites. From here, a panoramic alpine trail leads through forests and offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains before reaching the Locatelli Refuge and the spectacular Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks of Lavaredo), a symbol of the Dolomites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the end of the stage, you can take the bus back to Auronzo (ticket not included).
After packing your backpack with everything you need for tonight’s overnight stay, a short transfer will take you to Domegge di Cadore. From here, you cross the bridge over the Piave River and begin the ascent through the Val Talagona towards Rifugio Cercenà. You then continue along a mountain trail to Rifugio Padova, with the impressive peaks of the Spalti del Toro towering behind it.
The final stage of your trekking tour climbs through forests and across Dolomite slopes towards the spectacular Forcella Scodovacca, offering magnificent views of all the surrounding peaks. After crossing the pass, the route gradually descends towards Forni di Sopra, passing through beautiful alpine landscapes, meadows and panoramic trails before reaching this charming Friulian village.
Day 8: Departure Return to Ampezzo by local bus and from there transfer to Gemona. Alternatively, you can extend your stay.
