Day 1: Arrival
Individual arrival in Trento
Day 2: Trento - Levico Terme - Lavarone
(approx. 6 hours)
In the morning, you will take the bus from Trento to Levico Terme, the starting point of the stage. You will climb the rugged valley behind Monte Calmo, which is clearly visible from Levico, and then hike leisurely through vast forests and pastures to Lavarone.
Day 3: Lavarone – Passo Coe
(approx. 6-7 hours)
Today you will hike through meadows and forests to the Passo Coe ski resort, which is located on the border with Veneto. Along the way, you will pass Forte Monte Cherle and a dilapidated military hospital from the First World War.
Day 4: Passo Coe – Rifugio Lancia
(approx. 7 hours)
This stage takes you along mountain paths and trails to Monte Maggio, where you will enjoy a spectacular ridge hike. After descending to Passo della Borcola, you will climb back up on the opposite side and continue your hike. The area between Trento and Vicenza is one of the wildest in Italy and offers breathtaking views.
Day 5: Rifugio Lancia – Rifugio Campogrosso
(approx. 6-7 hours)
On this stage, you will cross the Pasubio massif, which is steeped in military history. The hike takes you along paths over the Dente Austriaco (Austrian Plateau) to the Dente Italiano, where the Austrians and Italians fought each other between 1916 and 1918. You will continue past fortifications and trenches, artillery positions, and blown-up barracks to Rifugio Papa and along the Strada degli Eroi (Heroes' Road) to Passo Pian della Fugazze and finally on to Rifugio Campogrosso.
Day 6: Rifugio Campogrosso – Giazza
(approx. 6 hours)
The hike takes you on a challenging climb up a steep cirque to Bocchettoa die Fondi. The area is rightly called Piccole Dolomiti (Little Dolomites), as the terrain here is also extremely rugged.
Day 7: Giazza – Erbezzo
(approx. 6-7 hours)
Today you will hike through the hills of the Lessini Mountains and notice that the landscape gradually changes into wide grassy alpine pastures. This stage requires a fair amount of stamina and fitness, as it is constantly up and down.
Day 8: Erbezzo - Montecchio - Verona
(approx. 6 hours)
This stage is the last of the E5. At the beginning of the hike, you will still have views of the last hills of the Alps and the Po Valley beyond. A highlight of this stage is certainly the 50-meter-long natural bridge Ponte di Veia. From the stage destination Montecchio, you will drive to Verona.
Day 9: Departure
Individual departure or possibility to extend your stay.
