Day 2: Niederdorf/Villabassa or Toblach/Dobbiaco - Pieve di Cadore
(approx. 60-65 km)
Today you follow the cycle path along the former Dolomites railway through the Höhlenstein Valley, passing Lake Dobbiaco and the military cemetery, which commemorates the First World War. Shortly afterwards, a unique panoramic view opens up of the Three Peaks rock formation before you reach Lake Landro. With a gentle ascent, the cycle path leads to the border between the provinces of Bolzano and Belluno. You then coast comfortably downhill along the former railway line as the valley opens up to the south, eventually reaching the Dolomite town of Cortina d’Ampezzo with its magnificent mountain backdrop. Continuing gradually downhill, mostly still on the old railway track, you can look left toward the Sorapis mountain massif and right toward the Cinque Torri. You then cycle through the Boite Valley to Pieve di Cadore.
Day 3: Pieve di Cadore - Vittorio Veneto
(approx. 66 km)
You continue on the newly developed cycle path to Longarone. This town was rebuilt in a very short time after it was flooded by a wave in 1963, caused by a landslide at the former Vajont dam. You then cycle onward to today‘s stage destination, Vittorio Veneto.
Day 4: Vittorio Veneto - Maniago
(approx. 63 km)
This stage crosses a varied landscape between the Alpine foothills and gentle hills. From Vittorio Veneto’s historic center, you cycle through vineyards and small villages along the Pedemontana before reaching Polcenigo, known for its basket-weaving tradition and its historic buildings near the Livenza River and Gorgazzo springs. The route continues to Aviano with its 10th-century castle, then towards Malnisio, home to the first Venetian hydroelectric plant, now a technology museum. The stage ends in Maniago, the renowned “city of knives.”
Day 5: Maniago - San Daniele del Friuli
(approx. 40 km)
Today you cycle from Maniago through a peaceful hilly landscape, first reaching Spilimbergo, whose historic center and renowned mosaic school welcome you. You then continue along quiet country roads that lead through fields, small villages, and gentle climbs, with frequent views of the mountains and the Friulian countryside. Finally, you arrive in San Daniele del Friuli, where the charming old town and its world-famous prosciutto await you.
Day 6: San Daniele del Friuli - Tarcento
(approx. 43 km)
After breakfast, you leave the town of San Daniele del Friuli and head toward Gemona, which impresses with its historic old town and imposing cathedral. Along the way, you follow quiet roads and cycle paths that lead through fields, vineyards, and small villages. After visiting Gemona, you continue your ride through idyllic landscapes until you reach Tarcento, a charming town known for its historic center, the Patriarchs’ Castle, and traditional Friulian hospitality.
Day 7: Tarcento - Gorizia
(approx. 67 km)
Today’s stage takes you to Cividale del Friuli, a UNESCO World Heritage city with medieval lanes, the famous Devil’s Bridge, and numerous historical sights. After visiting Cividale, you continue your ride through idyllic landscapes with views of the Julian Alps, eventually reaching Gorizia, a charming border town with a historic old center and an impressive castle.
Day 8: Gorizia - Triest
(approx. 56 km)
The final stage takes you from Gorizia to Trieste, passing through the diverse landscapes of the Collio and Karst regions, with their vineyards, rolling hills, and small villages. Along the way, you enjoy sweeping views of the Adriatic Sea. The tour concludes in Trieste, the elegant seaside port city renowned for its historic old town, Miramare Castle, and distinctive Central European charm — a perfect finale to the journey.
