Innsbruck - Jesolo 9/8

AT - Tyrol
  • From 1425 €
  • Holiday type Bicycle holiday
  • Duration 8 days
  • Difficulty Level Easy

This cycling tour to Venice follows the well-known cycle track „München Venezia“ and joins pure leisure cycling with the adventure of traversing the Alps from the mountains to the Adria. On cycling paths, cycle routes or small side roads you will experience different regions and lots of outstanding natural and cultural beauties. The cycling route will lead you through the UNESCO world natural heritage – the Dolomites – to Treviso and finally to the gates of the Serenissima – Venice – with its doges palaces and famous canals.

The cycling tour from Innsbruck to Venice is a very varied tour. The most demanding stages over the Alps (Innsbruck– Brenner) can be shortened by train or bus and the stage from Dobbiaco to Cortina d’Ampezzo leads easily along the cycle path on the old railway trail. The last two days are downhill and flat towards the sea.The tour is suitable for children from the age of 16. If the minimum number of participants has not been reached, we reserve the right to cancel the trip up to four weeks before the “arrival date.” We recommend arranging your travel to and from the destination only after this deadline.

Day 1: Arrival to Innsbruck

Individual arrival to the first hotel in Innsbruck.

Day 2: Innsbruck - Mühlbach

(approx. 55 km + train/bus, ticket included)

You leave Tyrol’s capital Innsbruck. The demanding part from Innsbruck to the Brennero pass, border between Austria and Italy and at the same time watershed and cultural axis, will be done by transfer (train or bus). Only a few buildings remind of the former border between the two European countries. From the Brennero you cycle along the old railway track to Vipiteno and further on to Fortezza and Mühlbach.

Day 3: Mühlbach – Niederdorf/Villabassa or Toblach/Dobbiaco

(approx. 50 - 55 km)

From Mühlbach a well-built cycling path leads you through the Val Pusteria, passing the Mühlbacher Klause, a former border post. Once it was an antique gate between the provinces Rätien and Norikum. Along the river Rienz you will arrive to Brunico. We suggest a visit of the Volkskundemuseum (South Tyrolean Folklore Museum) in Teodone or one of the two Messner Mountain Museums MMM in the castle of Brunico or on the Kronplatz mountain. From Brunico you cycle along the cycling path along the river Rienz to Villabassa or Dobbiaco, where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Cortina d`Ampezzo - Ponte nelle Alpi/Belluno

(approx. 55 km or approx. 75 km)

Today the path is going slightly downwards, for the most part on the old railway track; you will see the Sorapis on the left and located on the right the Cinque Torri (Five Towers). You continue on to the south through the Boite Valley towards Pieve/Calalzo di Cadore. From here the new cycling path takes you to Longarone. This town was completely rebuilt in 1963 after a landslide filled the dam above the village and caused a flood. From Longarone the cycle path is slightly hilly until you reach Ponte nelle Alpi/Belluno

Day 6: Ponte nelle Alpi/Belluno - Conegliano

(approx. 55 km or approx. 75 km)

After leaving Ponte nelle Alpi/Belluno behind, you’ll face the final climb. From the highest point, you can enjoy a sweeping view over the vast Italian plain before reaching Conegliano – the birthplace of Prosecco, along with Valdobbiadene, and home to the prestigious School of Oenology.

Day 7: Conegliano - Treviso

(approx. 50 km)

You leave the Alps behind and cycle through the plains to Treviso, city of waterways and fashion. On your way you can admire numerous villas from the Italian master-builder Palladio, who was able to complete here his agnificent buildings under the influence of the leading European sea power Venice.

Day 8: Treviso - Jesolo

(approx. 50 km)

Heading south, you pedal through the Venetian plain to reach the final destination of your journey: Jesolo, a charming coastal town where you can end your bike tour with a refreshing swim.

Day 9: Departure

Individual departure or possibility to extend your stay.
